I have been having that redirect problem that many people have had when clicking on search links and being taken to random websites and also have very slow moving internet. So I came here and figured it can't hurt to see if someone here can help.

Unfortunately, I accidentally deleted what the Rouge Killer scan found because I was confused by the directions. But I have attached all the scans I got.

Internet is already moving faster though since running these scans.

I should also point out that I am getting random video ads playing in the background even when no browser is open.

    Welcome to Major Geeks!

Do you know why the below 10MB partition is on your hard disk
    Code:
    Partition Disk #0, Partition #3
Partition Size 10.00 MB (10,485,760 bytes)
    Partition Starting Offset 320,057,901,056 bytes
This is quite suspicious and could be an infected partition.

Goto the below link and follow the instructions for running TDSSKiller from Kaspersky
    • Be sure to attach your log from TDSSKiller
Now please also download MBRCheck to your desktop.

See the download links under this icon http://forums.majorgeeks.com/chaslang/images/MGDownloadLoc.gif
    • Double click MBRCheck.exe to run (vista and Win 7 right click and select Run as Administrator)
    • It will show a Black screen with some information that will contain either the below line if no problem is found:
      • Done! Press ENTER to exit...
    • Or you will see more information like below if a problem is found:
      • Found non-standard or infected MBR.
      • Enter 'Y' and hit ENTER for more options, or 'N' to exit:
    • Either way, just choose to exit the program at this point since we want to see only the scan results to begin with.
    • MBRCheck will create a log named similar to MBRCheck_07.16.10_00.32.33.txt which is random based on date and time.
    • Attach this log to your next message. (See: HOW TO: Attach Items To Your Post )

    First, thanks for the help.

    1. I have no clue why that partition is there.

    2. I have been trying to run both TDSSKiller and FixTDSS for the past two days and neither have worked. Even when I change the name.

    3. No problem was found there. Here is the log:

    @Chaslang
    From HitmanPro log.
    Code:
       Volume Boot Record (Sector 625113088)
       C:$VBR_625113088
    From RogueKiller
    Code:
    3 - [ACTIVE] NTFS (0x17) [HIDDEN!] Offset (sectors): 625113088 | Size: 10 Mo
    *Active* partition infection indeed ;)

So is there anything I can do?

Preferably from a clean computer, I need you to download: gparted-live-0.13.0-1.iso (124 MB)
Create a bootable CD for GParted. You can use ImgBurn to accomplish this.
If you need help on how to use ImgBurn, please view this guide by dr.m -- Using ImageBurn to Burn an ISO image

Now boot off of the newly created GParted CD.
    http://img717.imageshack.us/img717/6546/gpartedsplash01107.th.png
    You should be here...
    Press ENTER
    http://img819.imageshack.us/img819/7286/gpartedkeymaps.th.png
By default, do not touch keymap is highlighted. Leave this setting alone and just press ENTER.
    http://img404.imageshack.us/img404/9840/gpartedlanguage.th.png
Choose your language and press ENTER. English is default [33]
    http://img140.imageshack.us/img140/7958/gpartedgui.th.png
Once again, at this prompt, press ENTER
You will now be taken to the main GUI screen below
    http://img32.imageshack.us/img32/1122/gpartedo.th.png
According to your logs, the partition that you want to delete is 10.00 MiB (10.00 MB)
Click the trash can icon to delete and then click Apply.
You should now be here confirming your actions:
    http://img233.imageshack.us/img233/1533/gpartedsteps.th.png
    Now you should be here:
    http://img696.imageshack.us/img696/8471/gpartedsuccessclose.th.png
Is boot next to your OS drive? According to your logs, your OS drive is the 295.79 GB sized partition.
    http://img194.imageshack.us/img194/7753/gpartedboot.th.png
If boot is not next to your OS drive under Flags, right-mouse click the OS drive while in Gparted and select Manage Flags
In the menu that pops up, place a checkmark in boot like the picture below:
    http://img196.imageshack.us/img196/3483/gpartedmanageflagsboot.th.png
Now press the Close button to save these changes.
    Now double-click the http://img822.imageshack.us/img822/641/gpartedexit.png button.
You should receive a small pop up like this:
    http://img88.imageshack.us/img88/8986/gpartedexitreboot.png
Choose reboot and then press OK.

Now boot to the System Recovery Options from the Advanced Boot Options:
    • Restart the computer.
    • As soon as the BIOS is loaded begin tapping the F8 key until Advanced Boot Options appears.
    • Use the arrow keys to select the Repair your computer menu item.
    • Choose your language settings, and then click Next.
    • Select the operating system you want to repair, and then click Next.
    • Select your user account an click Next.
Now on the System Recovery Options menu you will get the following options:
    • Select Command Prompt
    • In the command prompt window, enter the below commands
      • bootrec /fixmbr
      • bootrec /fixboot
      • exit
    Once back in Windows...
http://img707.imageshack.us/img707/6703/generalxpicon.gif Re-run new scans with RogueKiller its latest log.

Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista or Win7, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator).

    Then attach the below logs:
    • C:\MGlogs.zip
Make sure you tell me how things are working now!

When I try to do this part:
    It says
BOOTMGR is missing and won't let me do it. I am posting from my iPad for this

Okay, so I fixed the startup problem with a recovery disc that I was able to set up from a different computer.

Everything is seemingly running much faster now and I have yet to be redirected on a search.

Here is the log you asked for:

    Good job.

That bad partition is now gone. We have a little more to do.

Please download OTM by Old Timer and save it to your Desktop.
    • Right-click OTM.exe and select Run as administrator to run it.
    • Copy the lines from the below codebox to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them and pressing CTRL + C
(or, after highlighting, right-click and choose Copy): Do not include the word Code: which is just a title line of
      the code box
    Code:
    :Processes
    explorer.exe

    :Files
    C:\ProgramData\-I2xYnYETfS6MyY
    C:\ProgramData\-I2xYnYETfS6MyYr
    C:\ProgramData\I2xYnYETfS6MyY
    C:\Windows\Temp\enavyqa6.dll"
    C:\Windows\Temp\enavyqa6.err"
    C:\Windows\Temp\enavyqa6.out"
    C:\Users\SIDERIS_NICH.CND03201P9\AppData\Local\Temp\1925569531.dat
    :Commands
    [purity]
    [EmptyTemp]
    [start explorer]
    [Reboot]
    • Return to OTM, right click in the Paste List of Files/Folders to Move window (under the yellow bar
      ) and choose Paste.
    • Now click the large http://forums.majorgeeks.com/chaslang/images/MoveIt!.png button.
    • If OTM asks to reboot your computer, allow it to do so. The report should appear in Notepad after the reboot.
    • Close OTM.
Now navigate to the C:\_OTM\MovedFiles folder ( assuming your Windows drive is C). This is where your log will be
saved in the form of Date and Time mmddyyyy_hhmmss.log. Just look for the most recent .log file. Attach
this log file to your next message.

Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista or Win7, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator).

    Then attach the below logs:
    • the C:\_OTM\MovedFiles log
    • C:\MGlogs.zip
Make sure you tell me how things are working now!

    Great!

If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. We recommend you keep Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware. You can uninstall RogueKiller and HitManPro.
    2. Go back to step 6 oof the READ ME and renable your Disk Emulation software with Defogger if you had disabled it.
    3. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.
    4. If running Vista or Win 7, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    5. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis.
    6. Goto the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double click on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders
related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.
    7. If you are running Win 7, Vista, Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below:
      • Refer to the cleaning procedures pointed to by step 7 of the READ ME
for your Window version and see the instructions to Disable System Restore which will flush your Restore Points.
      • Then reboot and Enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.
    8. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:
