Server Busy Message On Start

For the last week or so, when I turn on my #1 PC and after it has completed it's start up procedures, I have a small window on my screen labeled Server Busy and to remove it and allow me to start using my PC I have to click on the box labelled "Switch To..."

I have no idea where that condition came from or how to get rid of it.

If I use Alt, Ctrl, Delete to bring up the Task Manager it show about 50% Ultilization and none of the processes running. Doing that also removes the Server Busy message.

BTW, I also noticed listed in the Task Manager crss.exe (not running) and I tried to delete it and it wouldn't delete, I think because it was running or trying to access a file.

I don't think that is what is causing the Server Busy situation since crss.exe is listed on the Task Manager on my #2 PC which is almost identical to my #1 PC and I'm not getting the Server Busy on my #2 PC.

    Both are running Windows 7.

The crss.exe situation is another 'problem" that I intend to begin researching how to remove it after I get this Server Busy eliminated.

    Thanks for any help.

Please read ALL of this message including the notes before doing anything.

Please follow the instructions in the below link:

READ & RUN ME FIRST. Malware Removal Guide

and attach the requested logs when you finish these instructions.
    • **** If something does not run, write down the info to explain to us later but keep on going. ****
    • Do not assume that because one step does not work that they all will not. MGtools will frequently run even when all other tools will not.

    • After completing the READ & RUN ME and attaching your logs, make sure that you tell us what problems still remain ( if any still do )!
    Helpful Notes:

    1. If you run into problems trying to run the READ & RUN ME or any of the scans in normal boot mode, you can run the steps in safe boot mode but make sure you tell us what you did later when you post logs. See the below if you do not know how to boot in safe mode:
    2. If you have problems downloading on the problem PC, download the tools and the manual update Malwarebytes ( links are given in the READ & RUN ME) onto another PC and then burn to a CD. Then copy them to the problem PC. You will have to skip getting updates if (and only if) your internet connection does not work. Yes you could use a flash drive too but flash drives are writeable and infections can spread to them.
    3. If you cannot seem to login to an infected user account, try using a different user account (if you have one) in either normal or safe boot mode and running only RogueKiller and Malwarebytes while logged into this other user account. Then reboot and see if you can log into the problem user account. If you can then run the rest of the READ & RUN ME FIRST instructions on the infected account.
    4. To avoid additional delay in getting a response, it is strongly advised that after completing the READ & RUN ME you also read this sticky:
Any additional post is a bump which will add more delay. Once you attach the logs, your thread will be in the work queue and as stated our system works the oldest threads FIRST.

Just a couple of comments to throw in!
    • I assume you really meant csrss.exe which is normal to see running on your PC. In fact you should see it twice. If you managed to kill it, your PC would crash. If you deleted the file, Windows would not run because it is required by Windows.
    • If it was really crss.exe then that would be malware.
    • And FYI, if you see it in Task Manager, it is running. CPU usage can be very low or shown as 0 since not all applications have to be running actively ( high CPU use ) all the time.
    • Server Busy errors may not have anything to do with malware but we will know better once you run the procedure Kestrel13! gave you and attach the logs requested.

Yes, my typo error. It is csrss.exe

Sorry, I should pay better attention to details.

Thank you for pointing this out.

I'm confused. I read all the instructions. It says "In this section we are going to download tools we will use. We will install and configure the programs and then run scans at a later point so please only download right now."

I already have CCleaner, which I run on a regular basis. I ran it just before I posted this thread.

I don't understand what I should do after I complete the downloads listed.

One other comment. I have Malwarebytes installed and I ran it before posting this thread. It found 66 PUPs, which it removed. Nothing else.

Sorry that the instructions confused you. I added more clarification now. We only wanted you to download the tools in step 1 but not run them until we instructed you to do so in later steps. The steps were meant to be followed in order though. ;)

So if you have finished step 1 then move on to steps 2, 3, and 4. And at step 4 if you still have problems, you would attach logs and tell us what problems you still have and then wait for further instructions. If you have no problems at step 4, you would then continue on with the remaining steps because there would be no reason to post here. :)

Many thanks for your quick response to my post. It's my fault that this thread was started. I did something first thing this morning that i should have done before starting this thread. Went to Windows Forum and found that others had experienced this problem and the Windows moderator explained thus - "The 'server busy' message is appearing because the program is trying to access the internet before the connection is completely ready."

Followed by instructions on how to find the program that is trying to access the Internet.

Again, thanks for your help and I think this thread should be ended.
