I was recently browsing through some freeware sites and come across a program called 'time stop' or something like this. I downloaded it to find that it didn't work, I did have major problems as soon as it was installed though.

It stops me accessing the internet stating the usual 'could not connect, check ur firewall' and so on. I then clicked the t-mobile dongle statistics to see what was happening... i found that some one or something was downloading lots and lots of things somewhere else, as if they are using my connection and not me. I have done all the scans suggested, and found nothing at all. I have attempted to install Hijack this and cannot do so,being told of errors so on, when i did manage to download successfully to laptop, the file was 0kb in size. in the end i had to use the PC to download and burn to disc so i could install on the infected laptop, which still didn't work as it says there are errors I can sometimes access an internet page, but am soon stopped by whatever is infected me. I was told once rebooting that some of my firewall files had been tampered with, so i tried to uninstall that firewall and replace with another. It wouldn't allow me to do so, so did that in safe mode, and installed a new 1 suggested at this site. It also didn't want me to install a new anti virus either.

I'm at my wits end as i don't know what to do next.:cry
If i need to download any programs to help with this, then i need to be able to use PC to download and burn to disc.

I will greatly appreciate any help,

    Naomi

You last MBAM log indicated it didnt find anything. And the rest of your logs are clean. Do you have your router secured? If not, it is possible that someone may be piggybacking off of your connection. I would suggest you post in the networking forum for guidance on securing your network.

If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:

    1. We recommend you keep SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware. Unless you purchase them, they provide no real time protection. They do not use any significant amount of resources ( except a little disk space ) until you run a scan.
    2. If we had you use ComboFix, uninstall ComboFix (This uninstall will only work as written if you installed ComboFix on your Desktop like we requested.)
      • Click START then RUN and enter the below into the run box and then click OK. Note the quotes are required
      • "%userprofile%\Desktop\combofix" /uninstall
        • Notes: The space between the combofix" and the /uninstall, it must be there.
        • This will uninstall ComboFix and also reset hidden files and folders settings back to Windows defaults.

    3. Go back to step 6 of the READ ME and renable your Disk Emulation software with Defogger if you had disabled it.
    4. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.
    5. If we had you download any registry patches like fixme.reg or fixWLK.reg (or any others), you can delete these files now.
    6. If running Vista, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    7. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis.
    8. Goto the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double click on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.
    9. If you are running Win 7, Vista, Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below:
      • Refer to the cleaning procedures pointed to by step 7 of the READ ME
for your Window version and see the instructions to Disable System Restore which will flush your Restore Points.
      • Then reboot and Enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.

    10. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:

Ok thank's to both for your help. I will check in the networking forum. I did however, manage to install a new antivirus and has detected win32:malware=gen!

I will try to sort this and wait for some help in the other forum.

    Thanks again

Somehow you must have gotten these between now and your last MBAM run. Please download a new copy of MGTOOLs if you have already removed it: MGtools.

Then where did the MBAM log come from that you just posted?

Get me a new MGLogs.zip and we will take it from there.

To keep things moving.. Tim requested new logs, so...
Run C:\MGTools.exe and attach the C:\Mglogs.zip for him.

It ran fine, not a problem. I am not seeing any malware, but try renaming MBAM.exe to something else, like Fred.exe and see if it will run. You should try running it on both user account. After we know you are clean, you should then disable the guest account.

If MBAM still will not run, I want you to try doing an online scan:
eSet Online Scan. If it finds anything, attach the log and then run it again until it stops finding anything.
