so i ran my typical removal process and it cleaned up nice

decided to do a repair install because it was having blue screen issues, and things weren't really working correctly with windows

    everything was good

HDD has some S.M.A.R.T. errors, but it's functional. just buying time until a replacement comes in. however, i want to ghost the drive to the new machine. but now it's worse than ever...

when i try to copy Combofix from network flash drive i get

    BSOD Registry_Error

75% of the time it BSOD:: Page_Fault_In_NonPaged_Area

it also throws above bsod when attempting a repair install

also, the virus was back in full action within 7 days. i replaced the MBR and ran TDSSKiller before running extrators and cleaners....

when i run Rougefix and Smitfraudfix i can get the machine back to operation

but networking is completely impossible. it pulls an ip and even pings the network computers but won't network to them

it indicates it has internet access and no proxy is configured

i don't want to do a wipe and reinstall, but i'm thinking that it's just too hosed to do anything else...

this is all malware/virus related even though the bsod may not be directly caused by virus, the damage delt during extraction could be, also the fact that the drive is failing too

so question, is it worth trying to salvage or should i just scrap it and reload?

    -thanks-

Based on the details you provided, I don't see anything that indicates you have malware. If you really want to know for sure if malware is the problem, then you should run the below cleaning procedure and attach the logs we request.

Please read ALL of this message including the notes before doing anything.

Please follow the instructions in the below link:

READ & RUN ME FIRST. Malware Removal Guide

and attach the requested logs when you finish these instructions.
    • **** If something does not run, write down the info to explain to us later but keep on going. ****
    • Do not assume that because one step does not work that they all will not. MGtools will frequently run even when all other tools will not.

    • After completing the READ & RUN ME and attaching your logs, make sure that you tell us what problems still remain ( if any still do )!
    Helpful Notes:

    1. If you run into problems trying to run the READ & RUN ME or any of the scans in normal boot mode, you can run the steps in safe boot mode but make sure you tell us what you did later when you post logs. See the below if you do not know how to boot in safe mode:
    2. If you have problems downloading on the problem PC, download the tools and the manual updates for SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes ( links are given in the READ & RUN ME) onto another PC and then burn to a CD. Then copy them to the problem PC. You will have to skip getting updates if (and only if) your internet connection does not work. Yes you could use a flash drive too but flash drives are writeable and infections can spread to them.
    3. If you cannot seem to login to an infected user account, try using a different user account (if you have one) in either normal or safe boot mode and running only SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes while logged into this other user account. Then reboot and see if you can log into the problem user account. If you can then run SUPERAntiSpyware, Malwarebytes, ComboFix and MGtools on the infected account as requested in the instructions.
    4. To avoid additional delay in getting a response, it is strongly advised that after completing the READ & RUN ME you also read this sticky:
Any additional post is a bump which will add more delay. Once you attach the logs, your thread will be in the work queue and as stated our system works the oldest threads FIRST.

well, seeing as i can't do any of that i'll just throw another drive in and install windows on a non-failing drive

Why can't you run any of this? You already stated things you were running. Why can't these cleaning steps be followed? Did you attempt to run each of the tools?

But yes if the hard disk is known to be failing, perhaps it is just a waste of time trying to fix it.

ya, i thought i might could get it to boot again, but i've done everything i can do it's just one big fat BSOD - so thanks for your post, but i'm afraid this one has died...
