    Hi guys, please help I seem to have downloaded a trojan somewhere and have tried all the fixes on the XP Cleaning Procedure but getting nowhere after lots of scans.

    SUPERAntiSpyware has downloaded the install file but when I double click it won't run and instead gives me a Windows XP 'Send Error Report' crash same in safe mode.

    Malware Bytes Anti-Malware is installed but when I click the icon it doesn't open even after I wait several minutes or try several times again in safe mode same thing.

    I have ran MGTools and got the log files as requested attached.

    ComboFix also won't run if I double click nothing happens.

    Some online scanners and other scans run from the list seem to find these trojans and I have deleted / quarantined these.

    Trojan.Peed.Gen
    Trojan.DNSChanger.Gen
    Cookie: Tracking Cookies
    Trojan-PSW.Delf.CRW
    Trojan.Fakeavalert
    Trojan.Crypt.Krap (v)

    Trojan.Win32.Agent

    I have also ran CounterSpy and have a log for that as I searched the forum for Trojan.Win32.Agent and found this similar thread.

    http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?mode=hybrid&t=136244

    Hence there is also a Panda log file if these are any help.

    But your mglogs.zip is incomplete. Did you notice any error messages whilst running it?
    Also could you tell me if perhaps you could have exited out of the program before it ran completely?

    Scroll to possible error messages about half way down.

    Using MGtools

    Okay just so we cover all bases let's try this assuming you haven't already done so when you followed the R&R:

    If you have problems where no tools seem to run, please try following the steps given in the below:

    TDSSserv Non-Plug & Play Driver Disable

    With regards to SUPERantispyware, look at the below:

    • Try the Alternate start method (start > all progs > Superantispyware > alternate start)
    • Also if the above doesn't let you open up the program then please try:
    • Rename SuperAntiSpyware.exe to SAS.EXE and then navigate to C:\Program Files\SUPERAntiSpyware and again rename the superantispyware.exe to SAS.exe. See if it will run now, if it does don't forget to update > scan > fix all it finds and get me the log it produces.

    With regards to MBAM:

    Go to the C:\MGtools folder and locate the RunMB.bat file and double click on it to run it. This will attempt to make a renamed copy of the Malwarebytes program (named mgmb.exe) and then it will attempt to run this re-named version. If this runs, it will try to perform a QuickScan. Allow it to finish, then fix all the malware it finds. Then save the log. Attach this log if it does run.

    Did you try running combofix in safe mode? What happens when you try renaming it to 123.com? Does it now run? If so attach the log it generates.

    Now try running MGTools once more and let's see if we can get us some complete logs:

    Run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it. Then attach the new C:\MGlogs.zip file that will be created by running this.

    Did you add your own Hijack this log to the zipped file? The version you have is out of date:

    Please also get Combofix onto your desktop where it should be. At the moment you have it in your C Drive which is not where it's meant to be run from.

    Thanks

    Thanks for your help Kestrel13 I have now been able to run MGTools correctly and get the full zip file.

    Also renaming Combofix to 123.com worked and I have been able to get the log for that now.

    What I meant above was that when i tried to run the installer for SUPERAntiSpyware it wouldn't run. So there was no way of getting the application to run or even the alternative method suggested.

    After running Combofix I've now been able to run SUPERAntiSpyware.

    I've posted the MGTools logs here and alos the Combofix one. Do you want me to continue running SUPERAntiSpyware?

    1. Please go to Add or Remove programs and uninstall the following old version of Java:

    • Java(TM) 6 Update 10

    Also bear in mind that programs like Registry Mechanic can often do more harm than good so optionally uninstall this also:

    • Registry Mechanic 7.0

    • Adaware <--- not as effective as SAS or MBAM

    Also I would like to point you to this thread Warning about Keygens, Cracks, and other Illegal Software

    As I see that you have a cracked copy of Nod32 installed on this machine. It should be your priority to ensure that your machine is safe and secure. "Protecting" yourself with dodgy AV would not be the way to go. You need to uninstall this now before we continue with the below, then at the end of clean up you can install some freeware antivirus from our list of recommended. Or... you can install Kaspersky which I see you have the set up files for.

    2. Please disable all anti-virus and anti-spyware programs while we do the following (re-enable when you are finished):

    Run C:\MGtools\analyse.exe by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator). This is really HijackThis (select Do a system scan only) and select the following lines but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now:

    After clicking Fix exit HJT.

    3. Now we need to use ComboFix.

    • Make sure that combofix.exe that you downloaded while doing the READ & RUN ME is on your Desktop but Do not run it!
    • If it is not on your Desktop, the below will not work.
    • Open Notepad and copy/paste the text in the below code box into it
    (make sure you scroll all the way down in the code box to get all lines selected ):
    Code:

    KILLALL::

    Registry::
    [-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shared Tools\MSConfig\startupfolder]
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shared Tools\MSConfig\startupfolder]
    [-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shared Tools\MSConfig\services]
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shared Tools\MSConfig\services]
    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\software\microsoft\windows\currentversion\run-]
    "CTFMON.EXE"=-
    "kdx"=-
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\microsoft\windows\currentversion\run-]
    "{0228e555-4f9c-4e35-a3ec-b109a192b4c2}"=-
    "4oD"=-
    "TkBellExe"=-
    "GrooveMonitor"=-
    [-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Browser Helper Objects\{06849E9F-C8D7-4D59-B87D-784B7D6BE0B3}]
    [-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Browser Helper Objects\{3CA2F312-6F6E-4B53-A66E-4E65E497C8C0}]
    [-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Browser Helper Objects\{7E853D72-626A-48EC-A868-BA8D5E23E045}]

    • Save the above as CFscript.txt and make sure you save it to the same location (should be on your Desktop) as ComboFix.exe
    • At this point, you MUST EXIT ALL BROWSERS NOW before continuing!
    • You should have both the ComboFix.exe and CFScript.txt icons on your Desktop.
    • Now use your mouse to drag CFscript.txt on top of ComboFix.exe

      http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3406/3636368190_c2dacb0a36.jpg?v=0

    • Follow the prompts.
    • When it finishes, a log will be produced named c:\combofix.txt
    • I will ask for this log below

    Note:

    Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.

    4. Also delete all files in the below bold folders except ones from the current date (Windows will not let you delete the files from the current day).

    5. Now reboot your machine and install the most current and up to date version of Java available here at the below link:

    Java Runtime 6

    6. Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it. Then attach the new C:\MGlogs.zip file that will be created by running this and also attach the log from Combofix.

    7. Could you please get this: installer.bat into a zipped file and attach it for me in your next post? To do this, see the below:

    Please go to start > Run and paste in the following:
    8. Let us know of any problems you may have encountered with the above instructions and also let me know how things are running now.

    Hi there. No doubt things are running well now but I would still like to see the logs from:

    • Combofix
    • MGTools

    and also the below bold file I asked you to zip up and attach for me:

    c:\windows\system32\installer.bat

    Thanks :)

    Sorry, thought I had attached them in the previous post.

    Not sure if I've done the zipping of installer.bat correctly but I've tried the CMD code and wasn't able to find the zipped file so have made the file from C:\windows\system32 into a zip file, please advise me if I've done that wrong.

    I would like to point out to you that the installer.bat file was used to illegally bypass Windows protection. You need to re-read the sticky that I already gave you. ;) I would like to emphasize that you will not be helped again since you are using an illegal copy of Windows and have other software that is illegal.

    If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. We recommend you keep SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware. Unless you purchase them, they provide no protection. They do not use any significant amount of resources ( except a little disk space ) until you run a scan.
    2. If we had you use ComboFix, uninstall ComboFix (This uninstall will only work as written if you installed ComboFix on your Desktop like we requested.)
      • Click START then RUN and enter the below into the run box and then click OK. Note the quotes are required
      • "%userprofile%\Desktop\combofix" /u
        • Notes: The space between the combofix" and the /u, it must be there.
        • This will uninstall ComboFix and also reset hidden files and folders settings back to Windows defaults.
    3. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.
    4. If we had you download any registry patches like fixme.reg or fixWLK.reg (or any others), you can delete these files now.
    5. If running Vista, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    6. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis.
    7. If you are running Vista, Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below:
      • Refer to the cleaning procedures in step 3 the READ ME for your Window version and see the instructions to Disable System Restore which will flush your Restore Points.
      • Then reboot and Enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.
    8. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:
