Unable to update multimedia audio controller

I bought a built computer, great computer, no sound. Only thing not working properly would be the multimedia audio controller. Don't know how to check anything to see what driver or where to get it from. Do any of the Driver scanning programs you pay for actually fix something like this. Or can you help?

DO NOT pay for any of those "driver repair" type of programs. Many of them are borderline viruses, and they don't do anything you can't do yourself with a little patience and know-how.... and YES, we can help. You're in the right place. Is there more info you need? And the sound was a no go when I bought the computer. The controller that has the yellow ! beside it is located on the list in other devices. While I was trying to take bits and pieces of bad advice, i uninstalled it, so now when I start my computer up, i get the lovely, New hardware message found, but it cannot be installed. Need more info?
