Hi everyone. My wife wants to buy a new laptop because our current one runs slow. I think the problem can be fixed. I run various spyware programs frequently. I just learned about virtual memory today and ran ErrorExpert version 1.3 today. My question is, what do I do with all the errors? Should I automaticly delete them or not neccessarily? Bye the way, there were 707 errors. My laptop is a Dell, about 3 years old, 256meg/RAM, 2.4 gig CPU, don't remember the hard drive size. Any advise would be appreciated. TIA.

256 mgs of ram will not make for a speedy xp ...it will slow with huge temp files and old reg. files ....did you run the ccleaner?

Or at least tell me where you got the other program and what are the "errors" that it found?

Man ...this don't look like a good program at all!!!

I didn't run the ccleaner yet. There were 707 errors, too many to list. I just did a google search for "virtual memory" and it was one of the websites that came up.

Is it possible to add more ram? That might be a cheap speed-up fix to go along with Tim W's good tips.

Your vitual memory (swap page file) is where your system dumps stuff while ram is busy with something else ...it is normally about 1 and 1/2 times the size of your ram. The setting is in my computer properties..advanced ...system performance.

I ran CCleaner and it came up with and repaired about 14 infected objects. I then ran Bitdefender. That came up with 0 viruses. I then re-ran ErrorExport and got 684 infected objects. What is a warez hit and why is that program not good? My virtual memory file size is 414mb.

I just ran the "issues" portion of CCleaner (I missed that part the first time I read the post) and it came up with 773 issues. I had the program repair them all, backing up the files, of course. I'll see how the computer runs now. If I still have trouble, I'll invest in more RAM. Thanks everyone, especially Tim, for all the help.

Agree with tater and TimW, max out your laptop with as much RAM as it will take, and you can afford.

Remember, laptops only have 2 slots for RAM.

The program is a registry cleaner/fixer. The thing to understand there is that it is merely listing things it believes to be errors. I wouldn't trust it for a second.

My OS is pristine. I don't have any errors in any of my event logs. I don't get crashes, I don't get slowdowns.

The program lists me to have 246 errors lol.
