Virus Won't Allow HijackThis!

    I am having the blues with the powerful combo of Spy Sheriff and Secure32.html which have both taken over my girls PC with an Windows XP O/S. I can download and run many fix programs like Ad-ware SE, KillBox, Cleanup, and Fixwareout. But I cannot run HijackThis, even after did it's operations, this popup applets reported that HijackThis would load after reboot, but it didn't. When trying to click on the links to and/or typing in the url: http//www.majorgeeks.com/download3155.html the browser page opens completely blank. So it appears I am not even allowed to fix the problem. Is there anyway to battle the above virus, worms, wares, whatever they are?

    After running all the step in the link that Adrynalyne gave to you, make sure you ATTACH the logs from BitDefender and PandaActiveScan. If you have a problem running either of them then run this: Running Ewido Security Suite and attach the log from Ewido.

    Do you have the log from Fixwareout? I would like to see it.

    Try renaming hijackthis.exe to myhjt.com and run it. Does that work?

    Thank you, I will post all of the logs I have today. Whoever wrote this, blocks not only HijackThis, but also your site. Maybe a ex-member who knows one can find help here is the badguy or gal.

    It is probably blocking all possible help type sites include antispyware and antivirus websites. That is a typical thing they do. You may need to clear your hosts file first.

    Download HOSTER and then follow the below steps.
    • Unzip Hoster to a convenient folder such as C:\Hoster
    • Run Hoster.exe, click Restore Original Hosts and then click OK.
    • Click the X to exit the program
