Hi. As an IT novice, I have recently picked up what i believe is some sort of Spyware. As a result a message appeared on by desktop/backgroung saying i needed to update my spyware. I assumed this needed to be deleted and so did this. A white backgroung was the result. I have got rid of this, which i think is the first step, by unchecking the boxes in "cutomise desktop" and so this is ok. I have problems however accessing internet explorer as it will not even open - it goes straight to "send error report" / memory could not be written. I have taken all the steps I think I should. running spyware, looking through add/remove programs, virus scans. This showed up nothing. You will have to forgive me if these methods seem somewhat, well amateur, but I have tried my best and now need the help of an expert. The laptop I use was one given to me from my brother last year. It runs on XP. I have posted a hijack log if this will help ??? I would be grateful for any assistance/ advice you can offer. Thank You

I have now followed all the instructions given and the results are as follows. I have used add/remove programs.did not appear to be anything there to delete i.e. i know what everything is. I had disabled system restore after cleaning, re-booted and re-enabled. The cleaning went as follows.Ad-Aware deleted about 20 files. i have followed instructions and allowed cleaning etc where files were found. i did not run bitdefender and panda scan as internet explorer wont open on the laptop. i attach the hijack log and hope that it is of use

We need to finish the cleaning process first, if you have installed and ran Ewido per the thread I provided for you then atatch the Ewido log with a fresh HJT log.
