hey there - thanks again for any help you might be able to provide. I am running a Sony Vaio with 160GB Hard drive only 47% full. The laptop started to take ages to boot up. I did some basic maintenance with very little improvement. I used adaware to limit the programs on startup and tried to do a defrag - i could not get defrag to run so I started in safe mode and managed to get it to run from there- but it took 14 hours to defrag (I usually defrag every couple of months so it is not that long since it was done) It seemed to work better from there so I decided that I would give it the full cleanup as per Chaslangs guide. I did this and a couple of the programs came up with a few trackers and 1 for VUNDO!. I cleaned them all and ran HJT etc and checked through the log and deleted a couple of minor items. I have also toggled system restore. I now am unsure whether it is malaware or my hard drive ready to throw its hand in? I have done a diskcheck etc and it came up ok. I started the pc today and it was back to taking ages to load up and pretty slow responses as well?
Can you give me any advice on whether it is my HD or whether it sounds like a virus? - I still kind of think it could be a virus. I have an image file on my portable harddrive from January through Acronis but I do not really want to put it on if I do not have to as I have a few additions since then- any advice? - I did not post any logs as I did not want told off!( I am still not sure how you post HJT logs and I have read your guide!)

If you do not attach the requested logs from the cleaning procedure, we cannot comment on anything or provide you any guidance. Based on what you have said thus far, I would say you are in the wrong forum. The guide clearly stated the below and you will note that we DO NOT ask for or want a HijackThis log.

DO NOT run the READ ME again!!!! Please attach your logs as given below.

If you do not already have a thread started, start a new thread otherwise post the following in your original thread. Clearly describe in detail the problems you are having and how long ago they started. Think about what you were doing at the time.

Now you need to attach (See: HOW TO: Attach Items To Your Post ) the below logs created while running the above scans

SASlog.txt log from SuperAntiSpyware.

Malwarebytes Anti-Malware log

ComboFix.txt (normally C:\ComboFix.txt)

RRlog.txt (from RootRepeal)

MGlogs.zip - normally it is C:\MGlogs.zip - only attach this log from MGtools.exe DO NOT attach any logs seen in the MGtools folder.

You should attach all of your logs in two messages after you have completed all scans. You need two messages since only 4 attachments are allowed in a single message.

Be patient after posting your logs and wait for one of the helpers to get to you. It can take a while to read thru all of the logs and to create individual fixes for you.

Also DO NOT BUMP your thread to try and get a faster answer. This will actually significantly delay getting an answer. See this: Don't Bump! It Only Hurts You!!!
