Thank you in advance for your help.

This computer has Windows XP professional. AVG 2011 antivirus(free) installed, all of a sudden, a scan started (similar to AVG) and the computer got infected. I got the blue screen most of the time that I started on regular mode. I was able to run the Ccleaner in regular mode. Ran Malwarebytes, Rkill and Superantispyware in safe mode. However I am still getting the "AVG scan" I have been trying to uninstall AVG to no avail; I keep getting the message: a system restart is required in order to continue with the installation. I am not getting the message "svchost.exe - application error, or Generic host process for win32 anymore, but the computer still freezes from time to time to the point that I can't shut down normally, I have to use the power button.
I am attaching the log files.
    Thank you so much!

No, I need the C:\MGlogs.zip, the whole zipped file, not individual files from within it. Thanks. :)

    Dear Krestel13!

The computer only shows a folder name: MGtools. I can not find MGlogs.zip. I even ran a search and it is not found. Please help.

Again I got the "Generic Host Process for win32 services has encounter a problem & needs to close", this happened after I ran Combofix.

    Thanks a million

Please click Start, Run, and enter cmd and click OK. This will open a command prompt window. Enter the below commands at the command prompt each followed by the enter key. The bold black are commands. The purple is merely informational.
cd \MGtools <-- this changes to the MGtools folder and the prompt should change to C:\MGtools>
GetRunKey <-- this will try to run all one scan from MGtools. Tell me what error messages, if any, you see.
ShowNew <-- this will try to run all another scan from MGtools. Tell me what error messages, if any, you see.

Please delete the copy of MGTools.exe that you have and download the latest version from the Read and Run first instructions. Then let me know if it runs.

I am not finding any malware in your logs. You can try doing this to remove AVG:
Please go here and download and run the AVG Removal Tool.

Once it is removed, try running Combofix again, but not until you disable teatimers!!

Please Disable Spybot's TeaTimer --> Should have been done as per the R&R instructions!

    * Run Spybot and click Mode
    * Select Advanced Mode.
    * Then click Tools and select Resident.
    * Now in the right window pane, uncheck TeaTimer.
    * Also while this is open, in the left column now select IE Tweaks
    * and then in the right pane make sure all the Miscellaneous locks are unchecked.
    * Now quit Spybot!

You need to use add/remove programs to uninstall:
    J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 10
    J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 11
    J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 6
    J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 9
Java 2 Runtime Environment, SE v1.4.2_03
    Java(TM) 6 Update 2
    Java(TM) 6 Update 26
    Java(TM) 6 Update 3
    Java(TM) 6 Update 5
    Java(TM) 6 Update 7
    Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment 6 Update 1
    Viewpoint Manager (Remove Only)

After a reboot, download and install:
    Java Runtime 7

That log is also clean. What malware issues are you still having, if any?

    Dear TimW,

It seems to me, that once the AVG was unistalled, the computer is back to its normal speed and it's not freezing like before. So far I haven't had any of the svchost.exe -application error, nor the Generic Host Process for win32. However I just got "Wmiprvse.exe - Application error, and an Error Event, about hard disk space increased

Thank you so much for your help

I want you to run TDSSKiller so refer to the below for how to do so.

    TDSSkiller - How to run

Please also download MBRCheck to your desktop
    • Double click MBRCheck.exe to run (vista and Win 7 right click and select Run as Administrator)
    • It will show a Black screen with some information that will contain either the below line if no problem is found:
      • Done! Press ENTER to exit...
    • Or you will see more information like below if a problem is found:
      • Found non-standard or infected MBR.
      • Enter 'Y' and hit ENTER for more options, or 'N' to exit:
    • Either way, just choose to exit the program at this point since we want to see only the scan results to begin with.
    • MBRCheck will create a log named similar to MBRCheck_07.16.10_00.32.33.txt which is random based on date and time.
    • Attach this log to your next message. (See: HOW TO: Attach Items To Your Post )

Looks like TDSSKiller fixed your MBR infection.

If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:

    1. We recommend you keep SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware. Unless you purchase them, they provide no real time protection. They do not use any significant amount of resources ( except a little disk space ) until you run a scan.We recommend them for doing backup scans when you suspect a malware infection.
    2. If we had you use ComboFix, uninstall ComboFix (This uninstall will only work as written if you installed ComboFix on your Desktop like we requested.)
      • Click START then RUN and enter the below into the run box and then click OK. Note the quotes are required
      • "%userprofile%\Desktop\combofix" /uninstall
        • Notes: The space between the combofix" and the /uninstall, it must be there.
        • This will uninstall ComboFix and also reset hidden files and folders settings back to Windows defaults.

    3. Go back to step 6 of the READ ME and renable your Disk Emulation software with Defogger if you had disabled it.
    4. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.
    5. If we had you download any registry patches like fixme.reg or fixWLK.reg (or any others), you can delete these files now.
    6. If running Vista, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    7. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis.
    8. Goto the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double click on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.
    9. If you are running Win 7, Vista, Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below:
      • Refer to the cleaning procedures pointed to by step 7 of the READ ME
for your Window version and see the instructions to Disable System Restore which will flush your Restore Points.
      • Then reboot and Enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.

    10. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:

Malware removal from MajorGeeks = $0

    Good morning,

The computer was working fine all afternoon yesterday, so I decided to do the clean up and follow all your instructions. This morning, the "WMIPRVSE.EXE" came up again. I ran TDSSkiller and MBRCheck again and came out clean. Logs attached. Is there anything else I can do?

    Thank you
