    Hello all,

Many thanks in advance for any advice anyone may offer.

I have recently purchased an Advent 6301 Laptop which came loaded with windows vista.
I don't like vista personally, and have reverted back to Windows XP
However, all the drivers on the driver disk are for vista, and I don't know what hardware it has.
I have tried searching for information online to no avail.

Please, if anyone could help me with a list of hardware or drivers to download I would be eternally grateful!
    :)

The rest of 'em I don't know, and to be 100% honest, I'm not sure which of the audio drivers will work (the first one is probably the best bet). There's a real lack of accurate info for the Advent PCs, and I couldn't even find their web site. The fact that one of the places I did manage to find some info had a typo regarding the graphics chip didn't help either. I spent 20 minutes looking for a driver that didn't exist! Read this article, follow the steps, and post any info you get here, and we'll do our best http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=149107 (download and run Everest and/or Unknown Devices, and post the reports here as attachments).

I hope this helps! Good luck and Welcome to Major Geeks!

(not to rub salt into your wounds, but if I've said it once, I've said it a million times: Always check for the availability of XP drivers BEFORE erasing Vista in favor of XP! If had a dollar for everyone that erased Vista and then realized there was no driver support for XP for their PC, I'd be a VERY rich man!)

I had an Advent (10 months ago) on which I decided to install XP and had the same problem, took me ages to find the info, in the end I thought what the hell and just installed the drivers that came on the CD with the laptop (not a vista cd), that worked fine for me

If it comes with a driver cd just bung it in an give it a go, mine comes with one that says version 1.0
