Google redirect and all his friends

Hi guys,

I've come across a problem that, for the first time, I'm unable to fix without asking for help. And I need help!

I'm usually able to fix problems simply by reading up on other people's threads, but this one has got me stumped. Everything I've tried has failed at the first hurdle.

A couple of weeks ago, I downloaded a .wmv file which asked me to download a codec. I stupidly clicked "Yes" and I've had problems ever since.

First up is the Google (and other search tools) redirect problem. It's sending me to various anti malware sites, as well as other random websites (including, bizarrely, myspace). It only happens the first time I click on a link; the second time taking me to the correct page.

After this, the first thing I noticed was that Java stopped working. Then Ad Aware went (I've since got it working again). Then System Restore lost all its restore points. I then noticed that my hard drive was suddenly very full. I moved about 60GB to my external drive but the C: drive reduced by over 100GB (possibly unrelated, but worth mentioning).

This is where I started to look for solutions online, starting here, but without success. The immediately apparent thing was that I had some kind of DNS changer, and every forum thread I read told me to download and run mbam from malwarebytes. I downloaded this, installed it and (now here's the major problem) it won't run. I double click the icon and nothing happens at all. Another suggestion that was made was Spybot, but this resulted in the same problem.

Since then, I've also experienced a number of crashes (as recently as half an hour ago), which bring up the dreaded blue screen, telling me of memory dumps and suchlike. Thankfully, my computer will boot shortly after.

I've seen anumber of programmes suggested, but a lot of them either don't work, or I quickly realise that I'm way out of my depth in using them and so decide to leave them alone.

Please follow the instructions in the READ & RUN ME FIRST link given futher down and attach the requested logs when you finish these instructions.

If you have problems where no tools seem to run, please try following the steps given in the below and then continue on no matter what you find. You only need to try the TDSSserv steps if having problems getting scans in the Read & Run Me First.

If something does not run, write down the info to explain to us later but keep on going.

Do not assume that because one step does not work that they all will not.

Helpful Notes:

If you run into problems trying to run the READ & RUN ME or any of the scans in normal boot mode. You can run steps in safe boot mode but make sure you tell us what you did later when you post logs. See the below if you do not know how to boot in safe mode:

Starting your computer in Safe mode

If you have problems downloading on the problem PC, download the tools and the manual updates for SUPERAntiSpyware, Malwarebytes and Spybot ( links are given in the READ & RUN ME) onto another PC and then burn to a CD. Then copy them to the problem PC. You will have to skip getting updates if (and only if) your internet connection does not work. Yes you could use a flash drive too but flash drives are writeable and infections can spread to them.

To avoid addtional delay in getting a response, it is strongly advise that after completing the READ & RUN ME you also read this sticky Don't Bump! It Only Hurts You!!!. Any additional post is a bump which will add more delay. Once you attach the logs, your thread will be in the work queue and as stated our system works the oldest threads FIRST.
