Hello, I've just joined to hopefully find an solution to something that has been annoying me for a few days. I keep getting a windows error messsage saying a program called julysoft.exe stopped working and was closed.

I have run anti-spyware and anti-malware software, and done a system restore (to saturday, I don't remember getting the message any earlier but I'm not sure), but I'm still getting the error.

I've searched for the program on my system & it can't find the program. I've searched on google to find out what it might be but I haven't found anything useful.

    Does anyone know? :confused
I didn't know which section of the forums to post this question, sorry!
    Thank you :)

    Welcome to Major Geeks!

Very likely to be malware as that file seems to be linked with a virus/trojan of some sort so bets option is to run the below guide and then start a NEW thread in the malware forum here and attach the logs gained.

Please follow the instructions in the READ & RUN ME FIRST link given futher down and attach the requested logs when you finish these instructions.
    • If you have problems where no tools seem to run, please try following the steps given in the below and then continue on no matter what you find. You only need to try the TDSSserv steps if having problems getting scans in the Read & Run Me First.
    • If something does not run, write down the info to explain to us later but keep on going.
    • Do not assume that because one step does not work that they all will not.
READ & RUN ME FIRST. Malware Removal Guide
    • After completing the READ & RUN ME and attaching your logs, make sure that you tell us what problems still remain ( if any still do )!
    Helpful Notes:

    1. If you run into problems trying to run the READ & RUN ME or any of the scans in normal boot mode, you can run the steps in safe boot mode but make sure you tell us what you did later when you post logs. See the below if you do not know how to boot in safe mode:
    2. If you have problems downloading on the problem PC, download the tools and the manual updates for SUPERAntiSpyware, Malwarebytes and Spybot ( links are given in the READ & RUN ME) onto another PC and then burn to a CD. Then copy them to the problem PC. You will have to skip getting updates if (and only if) your internet connection does not work. Yes you could use a flash drive too but flash drives are writeable and infections can spread to them.
    3. To avoid additional delay in getting a response, it is strongly advised that after completing the READ & RUN ME you also read this sticky:
Any additional post is a bump which will add more delay. Once you attach the logs, your thread will be in the work queue and as stated our system works the oldest threads FIRST.

Check out this link for more info about julysoft.exe. I spent about 5 minutes Googling it and everything I found that was PC related indicates that julysoft.exe is malware. Many new types of malware/viruses are very good at hiding from your average virus scan. You may want to visit the Major Geeks Malware forum after reading and following the steps in the world famous Major Geeks READ ME FIRST Malware Removal Guide available at this link. Good luck!

Well, *touch wood* I haven't had the error message since last night.

The first 2 programs didn't find anything - I do have logs from the other 2 but I wasn't instructed to do anything else. Also installed avg which found a few trojans.

    Thank you :):highfive

Hi Mrs Geek, if you're not finding anything then great, and if the issue is gone, even better but if you do find other weird issues then do as mentioned post a new thread in malware and attach the logs from the guide, but do rerun the guide as the logs will have changed from last time you ran them.
