HELP!! spyware on my computer, but not detected!

    hi, i recently ran a few quick scans on Symantec Antivirus (Corporate Edition), and saw about 50 files that must have been spyware. however, none of them were detected!! they were scanned in the quick scan and came back as safe. most of them looked like fake antispyware which were actually spyware themselves. it seems like every day there's more and more! When i went to look into the directories that they supposedly exist in, they didnt even exist! i haven't noticed any symptoms of spyware or anything on my computer at all, and nothing suspicious has been running in windows task manager. as i do not have admin rights (not because of spyware or anything, i just don't), there have been few programs that i've been able to use. SUPERantispyware ran a full scan and came back with nothing. Hijackthis came back with nothing suspicious. it seems that the spyware hasn't been affecting my computer in any way, but it's there somewhere! however, even with hidden files and folders SHOWN in explorer, i can't find any of these files. HELP!!!!! please!!!!!

    Welcome to Major Geeks!

    Why not? Please be more specific. Is this not your PC? Has someone else decided that you are not allowed to be an administrator? You need to do the below but you need to be an administrator to complete these steps.


    Please follow the instructions in the READ & RUN ME FIRST link given futher down and attach the requested logs when you finish these instructions.
    • If you have problems where no tools seem to run, please try following the steps given in the below and then continue on no matter what you find. You only need to try the TDSSserv steps if having problems getting scans in the Read & Run Me First.
    • If something does not run, write down the info to explain to us later but keep on going.
    • Do not assume that because one step does not work that they all will not.
    READ & RUN ME FIRST. Malware Removal Guide
    • After completing the READ & RUN ME and attaching your logs, make sure that you tell us what problems still remain ( if any still do )!
    Helpful Notes:


    1. If you run into problems trying to run the READ & RUN ME or any of the scans in normal boot mode, you can run the steps in safe boot mode but make sure you tell us what you did later when you post logs. See the below if you do not know how to boot in safe mode:
    2. If you have problems downloading on the problem PC, download the tools and the manual updates for SUPERAntiSpyware, Malwarebytes and Spybot ( links are given in the READ & RUN ME) onto another PC and then burn to a CD. Then copy them to the problem PC. You will have to skip getting updates if (and only if) your internet connection does not work. Yes you could use a flash drive too but flash drives are writeable and infections can spread to them.
    3. To avoid additional delay in getting a response, it is strongly advised that after completing the READ & RUN ME you also read this sticky:
    Any additional post is a bump which will add more delay. Once you attach the logs, your thread will be in the work queue and as stated our system works the oldest threads FIRST.​

    i'm not an admin because i share this computer with my siblings,and only my oldest brother has admin rights, but he's at school in another city right now. BUT, i just realized that LogMeIn is installed on this pc so i can get him to log on or give me admin rights through that. it probably won't happen until sunday though.
