How do I remove trojan horse Agent.AUOY

Hi,

I am having the same problem with trojan horse Agent.AUOY as the one posted by spushul_k earlier today at 01:47. (I was not allowed to post to that thread so I am starting a new one).

Siimilar to her, a few days ago AVG found 3 instances of "trojan horse Agent.AUOY" on my computer. I let AVG 8.0 quarantine them. One of the infected files is C:\WINDOWS\system32\msmqpbg.dll

When I go to AVG.com or Google for information on " "msmqpbg.dll" neither one knows what it is. I can't find information on either one of them. "msmqpbg.dll" is not listed as one of Microsoft's DLLs. I can't find any info on it. I think it's a bogus file name.

Should I follow the same advice (exactly) that you gave spushul_k??

I am using Windows XP.
I have run AVG version 8.0.1.176 and virus db version 270.10.9/1902
I have run Spybot S&D.
I have run AntiMalware.
None of this has helped.

I would greatly appreciate any help you can give me.

Please follow the instructions in the READ & RUN ME FIRST link given further down and attach the requested logs when you finish these instructions.

• If you have problems where no tools seem to run, please try following the steps given in the below and then continue on no matter what you find. You only need to try the TDSSserv steps if having problems getting scans in the Read & Run Me First.

Helpful Notes:

1. If you run into problems trying to run the READ & RUN ME or any of the scans in normal boot mode, you can run the steps in Safe Mode but make sure you tell us what you did later when you post logs. See the below if you do not know how to boot in safe mode:
   
   • Starting your computer in Safe mode
2. If you have problems downloading on the problem PC, download the tools and the manual updates for SUPERAntiSpyware, Malwarebytes and Spybot ( links are given in the READ & RUN ME) onto another PC and then burn to a CD. Then copy them to the problem PC. You will have to skip getting updates if (and only if) your internet connection does not work. Yes you could use a flash drive too but flash drives are writeable and infections can spread to them.
3. To avoid additional delay in getting a response, it is advised that after completing the READ & RUN ME you also read this sticky:
   • Don't Bump! It Only Hurts You!
4. Any additional post is a bump which will add more delay. Once you attach the logs, your thread will be in the work queue and as stated our system works the oldest threads FIRST.

I followed (most) of the advice you gave spushul_k and my problem is now gone. Not sure which step did the trick but on reboot all is working fine again. SUPER AntiSpyware may have been it; it found some "unknown" trojan hiding somewhere and removed it. I also did some other things so I'm not sure. Anyway, thanks!

I would still recommend attaching the logs because you could still be infected. Remember, just because you're not having any obvious problems doesn't mean your system is clean.
