I have a malware that has changed my admin pswd so I cannot log on as admin, nor can can i run any program , especially virus programs as guest or admin. the permission is denied and always asks for a pswd which of course I do not have as the program changed it.
    I cannot access the internet.
I tried a malware program on a flash drive but it will not let me run that either.
I use trend Micro and it will not scan for a virus now...says i do not have permission to "change" the setting when i simply try to run a scan.
    thanks for any help!
now accessing internet from second computer.

Re: malware cannot access admin or run as, Hijackthis log

ok I'm adding to the above.
my usb flash drive ran avast and found nothing (not surprised at that)

I was able to run HijackThis from my flash drive.
Got a msg it could not access some files and to change the "hosts" file.
or run Hijack This as admin (which of course I can't and couldn't do.)
I could also not save the amended hosts file to the correct directory for the same reason..no permission.
there was only one line with a local host IP address included in that msg.

    here is the log file.

Please follow the instructions in the READ & RUN ME FIRST link given further down and attach the requested logs when you finish these instructions.
    • If you have problems where no tools seem to run, please try following the steps given in the below and then continue on no matter what you find. You only need to try the TDSSserv steps if having problems getting scans in the Read & Run Me First.
    • If something does not run, write down the info to explain to us later but keep on going.
    • Do not assume that because one step does not work that they all will not.
READ & RUN ME FIRST. Malware Removal Guide

    Helpful Notes:

    1. If you run into problems trying to run the READ & RUN ME or any of the scans in normal boot mode, you can run the steps in Safe Mode but make sure you tell us what you did later when you post logs. See the below if you do not know how to boot in safe mode:
    2. If you have problems downloading on the problem PC, download the tools and the manual updates for SUPERAntiSpyware, Malwarebytes and Spybot ( links are given in the READ & RUN ME) onto another PC and then burn to a CD. Then copy them to the problem PC. You will have to skip getting updates if (and only if) your internet connection does not work. Yes you could use a flash drive too but flash drives are writeable and infections can spread to them.
    3. To avoid additional delay in getting a response, it is advised that after completing the READ & RUN ME you also read this sticky:
    4. Any additional post is a bump which will add more delay. Once you attach the logs, your thread will be in the work queue and as stated our system works the oldest threads FIRST.

Thank you..I should have read those files more thoroughly!
My system is okay now after going through all the steps.
I was able to delete2 quarantined viruses in Safe Mode.
I ran all the programs/steps suggested after that.
The "only" question I have after reading through the Mgtools logs is the date factor and the "last 90 days".

The infected computer was only used in November for a couple of days when I discovered the infection. It was not then and has NOT been connected to the internet since early Sept after hardware repairs. I went online immediately to update my virus protection (after installing from CD before doing so) as I had not used the computer for a year. I suspect it was either infected during repair late July or when I went online early Sept.

Do I need to alter the parameters and run again?

I need the log from ComboFix. Did you run this? If so, please attach it to your next post. If you did not then please download it, run it and attach the log once complete.

Yes, when reading the steps it didn't seem to come back as to when to run Combo fix.
Here is the log. Thank you!

I do not see your logs from MBAM & SAS from the READ ME. Did you run them? If so, please attach the logs from both. If you did not then please go back to the READ ME and run each program and attach the logs.
