i was following the Windows XP Cleaning Procedure, but i can not run SUPERAntiSpyware because the setup file gets an error message even if i rename it or redownload it from a different server AND rename it. The message says that it is not a valid win32 application.

My original problem has been that i started getting a lot of pop ups and all internet activity was extremely slow and many pages did not load at all. I use the free zonealarm firewall and pop up stopper free edition and the newest version of firefox, and suddenly started having problems for the first time for no known reason. (if any of this helps?)

    thanks

I tried to install the other scanning programs, and for Spybot S&D and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware i got a similar problem, but for these two programs it is just a "error" message that says "the setup files are corrupted. please obtain a new copy of the program" i get an error message for the combofix installation also.
So what is the problem here?

Please follow the instructions in the READ & RUN ME FIRST link given further down and attach the requested logs when you finish these instructions.
    • If you have problems where no tools seem to run, please try following the steps given in the below and then continue on no matter what you find. You only need to try the TDSSserv steps if having problems getting scans in the Read & Run Me First.
    • If something does not run, write down the info to explain to us later but keep on going.
    • Do not assume that because one step does not work that they all will not.
READ & RUN ME FIRST. Malware Removal Guide

    Helpful Notes:

    1. If you run into problems trying to run the READ & RUN ME or any of the scans in normal boot mode, you can run the steps in Safe Mode but make sure you tell us what you did later when you post logs. See the below if you do not know how to boot in safe mode:
    2. If you have problems downloading on the problem PC, download the tools and the manual updates for SUPERAntiSpyware, Malwarebytes and Spybot ( links are given in the READ & RUN ME) onto another PC and then burn to a CD. Then copy them to the problem PC. You will have to skip getting updates if (and only if) your internet connection does not work. Yes you could use a flash drive too but flash drives are writeable and infections can spread to them.
    3. To avoid additional delay in getting a response, it is advised that after completing the READ & RUN ME you also read this sticky:
    4. Any additional post is a bump which will add more delay. Once you attach the logs, your thread will be in the work queue and as stated our system works the oldest threads FIRST.

Remember, I can't see your computer so I have no clue what you're seeing.

Why can't you install anything? What happens? Any errors? Did you check to see if you had the TDSSserv driver that prevents these things?

Yes, i checked and i do not have a TDSSserv driver.
I have tried downloading from different servers, installing the programs in safe mode, doing the manual cleaning method again and trying all over again, renaming the programs, downloading them to the c drive, and i still get these messages. heres what i got when trying to install Superantispyware, Combofix, Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, and spybot search and destroy ( in that order )

I am using windows XP by the way. could this be caused by programs like firefox needing to be updated or do i need a new windows service pack?
This problem is really annoying because websites aren't loading or do really slowly, and i keep getting pop ups that slow down my computer.

The instructions said not to stop. You need to try MGtools.
