Hey there , probably going to be a long post as I want to get as much in one shot as possible. I have a Dell Inspiron 9300 and when I booted it up on Sunday night it flipped out. About 30 seconds after booting the Browser opened itself up and started opening more windows periodically. I went ahead and disconnected the machine from the internet and downloaded anything I needed from another machine. Haven’t had Java installed on the machine for a while , normal start-up , system restore active (although I think I may have deleted those last night) , all files unhidden. Ccleaner installed and scanned no problem. SuperAntispyware installs but a Windows pop-up stating the program encountered an error appears when you try and run the program. Spybot installs fine but nothing at all happens when you try and run the program. Malwarebytes freezes and locks up the machine halfway through the install and I eventually have to hard shut down. Combo fix does nothing when I click the icon to start install. I was able to install Panda Antivirus+Firewall 2008 and update manually , weird thing is it would scan the registry or boot sector files then when it would get to the Hard drive would skip over the hard drive like it wasn’t there. Uninstalled Panda and Installed Avg Free8 and updated manually. Between the 2 antivirus programs deleted a couple Trojans and some moderate garbage , but still can’t do any of the steps from the Read & Run Me First Section. Also while the machine was connected to the internet I was able to navigate to any address not associated with fixing malware i.e. yahoo or google , but not majorgeeks or Symantec ect. I did get Mgtools to run and I'm not sure if you'd want the logs yet or not (and I wasn't sure I was attaching them the way you want them) , so I hope what I left here so far helps and I appreciate the help, Thanks ;)

I know adding another post to this will bump it to the end , but I wanted to let anyone who had run into similar problems that a friend had told me to check out a Free Virus Scan program called Avast at www.avast.com . In my case I was able to install and run an entire scan with this program , and you can also download the updates on another machine for manually updating the virusdatabase. At any rate after it did a boot-up scan and fixed some issues I was finally able to start going through the steps in the Read & Run First thread. All the programs installed , updated , scanned , and fixed issues. Machine is running well now. I will still check back in a day or two and see if there were any responses to this thread and if a helper thinks there is anything more I should do. Thanks for keeping the site up and helping all of us!

I would recommend trying to run the procedures once more, be sure you have the most recent versions of the programs as they have been recently updated.

Just as a reference, I will post our initial instructions below.
