    Hi,

I have a customer that has a partial window with a scroll bar attached to the side for vertical scroll but not horizontal scroll. The window contains the login.live.com screen. You can only see parts of the screen because you can only scroll so far down. This "partial window" is embedded in his desktop screen and I am unable to figure out how to remove it. I have tried my average tools that I use to clean up other customers computers and I have scrolled through some of the registry keys to see if anything rung a bell for the desktop. Nothing!!!

I guess I don't know where to go from here. It does not hurt performance and everything seems absolutely fine other then its embedded on his desktop. The actual login part of it works, but its useless do to the fact that you are unable to maximize the window to see the entire website.

If anyone can give me some suggestions I will gladly try them. I have installed LogMeIn on this computer so that I can log and try various things without driving miles everyday to try the suggested.

    Thanks a million in advance!!!!!!

    Welcome to Major Geeks!

This really does not sound like a malware problem. Sounds more like a problem for the Software Forum. However try this:

    Fixing Locked Desktop
    • Right click on your Desktop and select Properties.
    • Then click the Desktop tab
    • then click the Customize Desktop button.
    • Now in the next window that comes up click the Web tab.
      • Make sure at the bottom that Lock desktop items is unchecked.
    • Then in the Web pages: box delete all items but My Current Home Page and make sure it is unchecked too.
    • Then click OK.
    • Click Apply. And click OK.

If the above does not help, and you wish to check for malware, then continue on with the below. Otherwise try the Software Forum.

Please follow the instructions in the READ & RUN ME FIRST link given futher down and attach the requested logs when you finish these instructions.
    • If you have problems where no tools seem to run, please try following the steps given in the below and then continue on no matter what you find. You only need to try the TDSSserv steps if having problems getting scans in the Read & Run Me First.
    • If something does not run, write down the info to explain to us later but keep on going.
    • Do not assume that because one step does not work that they all will not.
READ & RUN ME FIRST. Malware Removal Guide

    Helpful Notes:

    1. If you run into problems trying to run the READ & RUN ME or any of the scans in normal boot mode, you can run the steps in safe boot mode but make sure you tell us what you did later when you post logs. See the below if you do not know how to boot in safe mode:
    2. If you have problems downloading on the problem PC, download the tools and the manual updates for SUPERAntiSpyware, Malwarebytes and Spybot ( links are given in the READ & RUN ME) onto another PC and then burn to a CD. Then copy them to the problem PC. You will have to skip getting updates if (and only if) your internet connection does not work. Yes you could use a flash drive too but flash drives are writeable and infections can spread to them.
    3. To avoid additional delay in getting a response, it is strongly advised that after completing the READ & RUN ME you also read this sticky:
Any additional post is a bump which will add more delay. Once you attach the logs, your thread will be in the work queue and as stated our system works the oldest threads FIRST.
